pouring a cold one for my fallen pintglasses

So, I was thinking today that it was about time to write a post about somethign important like my thoughts on gay marriage, or maybe global warming seeing as I just saw that movie with Al Gore abouit global warming, and the Congress is trying to do this retarded marriage ammendment thing again. Or maybe just let peopel know what I had been up to lately. Well, none of that stuff is as important as the travesty that just befell my humble abode. You see, my appartment has this nifty little "wet bar" next to the fireplace, basically its a sink, with a cabinet underneath and kind of sunken into the wall so that the cabinet is flush with the wall, and above the sink there is a little alcove area. Being a moderately handy person, I decided to put some shelves up in the alcovbe part over the sink and put various alcohol related glass containers such as pint glasses, shot glasses, wine glasses, and other fragile items that I have been collecting over the years. It was a great idea. It was a practical way to store things, and it looked nice as well. So after mismeasuring and drilling holes in all the wrong places, and then having trouble finding anchors that worked properly (or maybe the anchor installer(me) wasnt working properly), I finally got three shelves on the wall, and proceeded to proudly place all my beloved alcohol drinking vessels on to it. That was my first mistake. I think this was thursday or friday. Initially I was afraid that maybe the shelves would not hold, but they seemed to be staying in just fine. I got a little more confident and put some more stuff up there. I even cleaned up all the sawdust and straightened up the counter area, as if I was done and could get on with a better life taht had shelves over my wet bar. Then I come home from work today. I open the door, and the first thing I notice is that there are no shelves on the wall. Oddly this did not strike me initially as too weird. Then I noticed the pile of glass on the carpet. My next reaction was that there wasnt enough glass on the ground for all of the glass that was on the shelf. Well dumbass, thats because theyre all broken poindexter. Anyway, I just finished cleaning it all up, and its not good. Al lot of glasses that I had gotten as souvenirs from trips or had been given to me as gifts and kinda meant somethign to me were broken. Among the living: three non-descript plain pint glasses that were stolen from cornerstone bar... I assume I am now squared with God/Karma/whatever for the stealing of them due to the irony of them not breaking. Alot of shot glasses from places like LA, Las Vegas, and Chigago were lost, I guess I'll have ot go back there. The pint glass I bought last weekend a Brew-at-the-zoo and had never used: a million little pieces (Thank you James Frey). luckily, the first pint glass I ever bought and my favorite wine glass were not on the shelves, so they were ok. Unfortunately I lost my two imperial stout glasses, which sucks, but they will be easy to replace. In fact, one of them was from Dogfishhead where we are going hopefully on Saturday to celebrate my birthday (which is tomorrow), so I can replace it.

You might be saying, "dude, these are material possesions and are completely meaningless. shut the hell up and care about somethign important". Well I say "fuck off Ducore, You dont understand what it is like to loose something you love. You Bastard!!!!". Actually, Im not too upset, but I have been collecting those glasses for a while, and if nothing else, that was a good lump of money that fell off my wall, not to mention the emotional attachment anyone has with somethign they collect. Well, I guess I'll have to start over, and I guess this is incentive to go back to the places where I got all these glasses.

Oh, I mentioned before going to Dogfishhead. Anyone who reads this blog, and knows, or at some point knew my social security number, or has the phone number of anyone who has my social security number(anyone who has ever lived with me), or anyone who I dont know but will buy me presents, let me know if you are interested in coming. Dogfishhead is a brewpub with good beer and good food. I think we will go on Saturday. It is in Gaithersburg.
